PRACTICE TIP OF THE MONTH:
A spoonful of sugar helps the practicing go down…If you call something a game, then a child will want to do it. There is something about the word, game, and the concept that makes children enjoy it. If a child doesn’t like getting dressed, then all you have to do is put a stopwatch on and see how they quick they can do it to make it into a game. Pretty soon they will be looking forward to it tomorrow! Piano practice is the same.  That is why I have incentive games for the students and other aids to helping them WANT to practice.  We’ll be doing the paperclip game a little later in the semester.  This is a fun practice incentive.  Of Course, practicing isn’t always fun and games and the students have to expect that it won’t always be fun.  But, music should make you happy so, keep that thought!

NOTE:
Welcome to our new students, Jeewan, Avery, and Jeremy!  We hope you enjoy becoming better pianists.
Our summer songs master class is coming up. It will be on Tuesday, Sept 20 at 6:30 for about an hour. Remember there are no regular lessons during the week of a master class or recital.

Be thinking ahead to Halloween and Christmas.  If you have any special requests for the Christmas recital, let me know right away – first come, first served.

I try to get statements out the last week of the month for the upcoming month, but regardless of when the statement comes out, I’d really like the lessons paid by the 2nd week of each month.  It makes my bookkeeping easier when I don’t have to worry about who has paid at the end of the month.  Of course, if there is a difficulty, please let me know so we can work something out.  I wouldn’t want anyone to stop lessons unnecessarily.

Be sure to check the website for the calendar or other information periodically.  I try to let you know at the lessons, but sometimes I forget.  I also send out group emails regularly about the lessons and events coming up.

The Music Learning Community Website (musiclearningcommunity.com) is available now for $1.00 per family per month.  Remember that there is 15 minutes on the computer at the end of each lesson, so be sure to plan on the extra time (45 minutes total now).  Any questions, please let me know.  There is no change in price.

Music School Website url is:  http://snowmusicschool.com.  Students may earn extra points when they play any of the games or visit the website to learn more about music.
