STUDIO NEWSLETTER NOTES
January 2011

PRACTICE TIP OF THE MONTH:
Successful and rewarding music study depends on consistent daily practice. So, SCHEDULE a regular practice time - before school, before bed, at 4:00 or whatever works. Remember that unscheduled practice rarely happens and you will not get very far. 30 minutes is a good beginning but it needs to be increased gradually as you progress if you want to do well. More "good" practice will mean you will advance faster. How fast do you want to go? Remember, no interruptions like phone calls, friends, or chores in the middle of practice time. Also turn off distracting noises like TV, radios or games. Good practicing makes a happier student when they come to the lesson.

Note:
Welcome to our new students, Riley, Lexi, Talia & Taylor. They are all beginning a grand adventure! The Christmas Recital was wonderful. All who participated did a terrific job. I hope you enjoyed the evening as much as I did and also had fun shopping at the store. Our new semester is just beginning. We will prepare for the I Love Piano Master Class in February and the Composer Festival in May. Our Recital for Spring is in June and we'll work towards that too. For some students who desire to participate there are the guild auditions and the CAPMT Piano Evaluations, both in May. See me if you are interested as we need to begin right away to complete everything. The Music Learning Community Website is available now. For everyone who wants to pay the extra $1.00 per family per month to play the games at home as much as you want, If you haven't let me know whether or not you want to participate, be sure to do so soon. The games are helpful for young students as well as older ones. Remember that there is 15 minutes on the computer at the end of each lesson now so be sure to plan on the extra time (45 minutes total now). Any questions, please let me know. There is no change in price. Music School Website url is: http://snowmusicschool.com. Students may earn extra points when they play any of the games or visit the website to learn more about music.
